Antonio Brown Confirms Bankruptcy Filing: 'I'm F----d Up'

Former NFL star Antonio Brown, who earned nearly $81 million during his 12-year career, recently confirmed he has filed for bankruptcy. Brown, 35, opted for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, which is a reorganization plan allowing debtors to pay creditors over time while continuing their business operations.

Despite his financial troubles, Brown made it clear he is not entirely broke. "I mean, I'm f----d up, you know what I'm saying?" Brown stated on The Pivot Podcast. "I just can't comply with debt. It’s all about protecting yourself. But yeah, you know... I'm not broke, but I'm fractured. ... I'm just reallocating the debt to take care of the debtors. That's all I'm doing."

Having not played in the NFL since the end of the 2021 season, Brown acknowledged his financial issues had become overwhelming. "Anybody can sue you, take you for whatever you got," Brown explained. "At this point, I don't work, I don't make millions of dollars where it's coming in where I could just [pay off] some of that money. So, you know, Chapter 11 is about restructuring the money you're making so you can take care of the debt."

Brown referred to his various legal troubles over recent years, including allegations of sexual and personal misconduct in 2019, which led to his release from the Patriots after just one game. These allegations also resulted in an eight-game suspension for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy.

Once considered the NFL's premier receiver, Brown's career has taken a tumultuous turn. Despite this, from 2010 to 2018, he built an impressive career, being named to the Pro Bowl seven times, earning four All-Pro selections, and recording the best six-year stretch for a receiver in league history from 2013 to 2018.

Brown spent the first nine years of his career with the Steelers, setting numerous franchise records, including most receiving yards (1,834), most receptions (134), and most touchdown catches in a single season.
